Disznókő – Tokaji Aszu 6 Puttonyos 2011
Hungary – Tokaj
Light golden colour. Very pure and complex nose with stone fruit, apricot, red pepper, honey, some earthy mineral and truffle notes. The palate has a very fine harmony, concentrated, a very long, crisp finish. Very fine potential.
Domaine Weinbach – Clos Des Capucins Cuvée D’or 2008
France – Alsace – Altenbourg
Medium deep golden colour. Fine nose with good intensity and purity. Very good grip on the palate, high sweetness but also some aged notes and an approaching complexity, layered and spicy with an unctuous texture and very long opulent finish. Fine potential, excellent purity all along.
Pithon Paillé – 2013
France – Loire Valley – Quarts de Chaume – Grand Cru
Deep golden colour. Floral, fruity and intense nose with a mineral notion, still young but already complex. The palate has a very good density without heaviness, excellent bite and freshness. Very long finish, very good balance and purity. Excellent potential.
Clos Haut Peyraguey – 2013
France – Bordeaux – Sauternes – 1er Grand Cru Classé
Light to medium deep golden colour. Layered nose showing fine oak, almond, pastry, yellow fruit and fine wood. The palate has good bite, dense but with a vital acidity, notes of lemon confit, earl grey and a long lingering finish. Really what great Sauternes is all about.
Terrassous – Vin Doux Naturel 1995
France – Languedoc/Roussillon – Rivesaltes
Medium deep amber colour. Complex and evolved nose with figs, dates, nuts and spices. The palate has wonderful intensity and nuttiness. Very long and warm finish with balanced alcohol, very good.
Capezzana – Riserva 2009
Italy – Tuscany
Complex and intense nose in a deliberately oxidised style, some volatile and balsamic notes but balanced for its style, nutty with leather, dried fruit, honey and pastry, quite spicy too. The palate is intense, very complex and layered with a long, rich and spicy finish, very nice.
Domaine Rouvinez – Les Grains Nobles 2008
Switzerland – Valais
Medium deep golden colour. The nose has some evolution and complexity with earthy, mineral and truffle notes paired with yellow fruit. The palate has good bite, ripe and warm but well balanced with nutty notes, lush fruit, an approaching complexity and a long, spicy finish.
