Best Rated Reds

As our name suggests, we truly are TASTED 100% BLIND. We are the first and only rating service that conducts each tasting blindly, with a world renowned Sommelier and taped. Why do we do it? Well unlike other ratings, there is nothing clouding Andreas Larsson’s judgement or influence. His unbiased opinion is not from advertisement budgets, name, price or region. He is an expert you can trust, just watch the proof for yourself. Below enjoy some of Andrea Larsson’s highest rated red wines of this year so far.

CUPANO 2009
Italy – Tuscany – Brunello Di Montalcino
95 Points
A wine that must be paired with an equally fabulous meal. The wine sets the standards high for a Brunello Di Montalcino. As Andreas’ tasting notes suggest: “It’s lush, it’s bold, it has plenty of tannin, but it’s all well in balance now; and with a nice meal, I would take great pleasure in drinking this.”

CHATEAU TROPLONG MONDOT 2012
France – Bordeaux – Saint Emilion – 1er Grand Cru Classe B
95 Points
An excellent companion to côte de bouf or something else big and meaty. This is a wine well worth finding two bottles, one to age and one to drink now.

COL D’ORCIA – POGGIO AL VENTO 1990
Italy – Tuscany – Brunello Di Montalcino
94 Points
“A quality in a wine with evolution”. This is an extraordinary and well-aged Brunello Di Montalcino. It is at perfect drinkability now, so worth finding and enjoying with creamy risotto and freshly-grated truffle.

GERARD BERTRAND – LA FORGE 2012
France – Languedoc/Roussillon – Corbieres Boutenac
93 Points
As the highest rated wine of the Corbieres region, it is no wonder that Andreas loved it so much. According to his notes, very dense core of fruit, with a high degree of tannin.

TORRES – GRANS MURALLES 2010
Spain – Catalunya – Conca de Barbera
93 Points
An interesting blend of typical Catalan varieties of Cariñena, Garnacha Tinta, Garró, Monastrell, Samsó, “It is very nice density on the palate, rich and ample, really full-bodied, good weight, and intense dark fruit there.”

JEAN RENE GERMANIER – RÉSERVE 2011
Switzerland – Valais – Humagne
92 Points
Coming from one of the largest wine regions in Switzerland, this wine is contributing to the increasing quality recognition of Valais and the country. A perfectly balanced wine to be enjoyed now.

WENINGER & GERE WINERY – CABERNET FRANC SELECTION 2009
Hungary – Villány
91 Points
Andreas called this wine “aged sweetness”. Not a sweet wine, but a wine that gives a rounder impression of ripe fruit. Many say the best wines of Hungry come from the region of Villány, which is on the Southern side of Hungry. Perhaps a bit harder to find, but this wine has great dense and rich texture, a great wealth of elegant dark fruit, and a long lingering finish.
